Iranian students ranked 7th in int'l math competitions

TEHRAN (ISNA)- Iranian math team at Sharif University stood 7th in the 20th International Mathematics Competitions for University Students held in Bulgaria, wining several medals.

TEHRAN (ISNA)- Iranian math team at Sharif University stood 7th in the 20th International Mathematics Competitions for University Students held in Bulgaria, wining several medals.

The Iranian team scored three gold, two silver and one bronze medals.

Aidin Yousefzadeh, Sahand Seifnashri and Mojtaba shekarianzeini received gold medals. Hesam Rajabzadeh and Amir Hossein Gorzi grabbed silver medals. Amirmasoud Givechi received bronze medal.

The competition was co-organized by University College London and American University in Bulgaria, Blagoevgrad. It took place in Blagoevgrad, Bulgaria, from the 6th of August to the 12th of August.

Every participating university was invited to send several students and one teacher. The competition was planned for students completing their first, second, third or fourth year of university education and will consist of 2 Sessions of 5 hours each. Problems was from the fields of Algebra, Analysis (Real and Complex), Geometry and Combinatorics. The working language was English.
